What is a KVK Number?

The KVK (Kamer van Koophandel) number is the Dutch business registration number. Every business registered in the Netherlands receives a unique 8-digit KVK number from the Chamber of Commerce.

The Netherlands has the highest Peppol adoption rate in the EU, making the KVK number one of the most commonly encountered identifiers in European e-invoicing.

The KVK number serves as the primary Peppol participant identifier for Dutch businesses:

Dutch businesses have multiple identifiers that serve different purposes:

Common Errors

Using the BTW-nummer format instead of KVK in the EndpointID

Wrong scheme ID — using 0190 (OIN) instead of 0106 (KVK) for commercial entities

Including dots or spaces in the number (must be raw digits only)

Truncating leading zeros
